I’m a screenwriter who enjoys writing about others and not myself.
Having grown up on the ‘sunny’ Isle of Wight, I set sail for the mainland at 19 to pursue a career in screenwriting. I attended the University of Winchester to study Creative Writing and Film Production and then headed for the big smoke, where for the past year and a half I have been fortunate enough to gain some experience in the industry and continue to develop as a writer.
I’m drawn to character, how our story shapes who we are, and through telling it brings us closer together. I like to write character-based dramas and set out to entangle universal messages within the narratives for my audience to unravel. I’m inspired by the wonderful and wacky with titles such as Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind, Little Miss Sunshine, Where the Wild Things Are, The Florida Project, Captain Fantastic, Leave No Trace and also an avid follower of Alex Garland’s and Spike Jonze’s work.
I’m currently writing my first feature, A World About Us – set in 1969, two childhood friends escape their inevitable futures by fleeing to India on the Hippy Trail.
As well as this, I’m writing a short film, Blackwater, which is based on an old, Scottish folklore.
